Department of Engineering Maths
HOD: Dr. Rajesh Shakle
Location: LNCT Building
The Department of Engineering Mathematics came into existence in 1994 with intake of 180 students. Since then department is functioning as a service agency in Engineering Mathematics.
The core courses in Mathematics as per university are Engg. Mathematics I,II,III (common to all the branches of UG programs) and Discrete Mathematics(CS/IT) and Advance Maths for PG programs. It has its own Library and computer setup.
The Department is progressing under the guidance of Prof.(Dr.) Reema Tuteja. The department has qualified ,experienced and adequate faculty for intake of 1140 . They are specialized in various fields of Mathematics and are actively involved in research with proven outcomes in the form of published research work at various platforms.
The research pursued in the department of Mathematics includes a fairly wide spectrum of interests in Mathematical Sciences areas of Computational Mathematics, Nonlinear Functional Analysis, Special Functions, Biomathematics, Optimization Techniques & Applications and Differential Geometry. Department is also known for excellent performance in university exams and in organizing co-curriculum activities & orientation programs. It also organizes various guest lectures and workshop on MATLAB. Department has conducted national conferences in the years 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2015.
Research assistance for paper presentation and travel grants for India and abroad are provided by LNCT and government agencies like MPCST, AICTE, DST etc.
Vision
To motivate and encourage students to apply mathematics in engineering applications, computation, modeling and optimization techniques relevant to research and industries.
To provides support to other departments and lay a sound foundation for learning engineering and technical subjects by applying it to conceptual mathematics and its applications to computations, modeling and optimization techniques relevant to research and industries.
Mission
To develop interest and motivate students by basic conceptual learning
To develop the future engineers with analytical and rational approach by learning and applying the mathematical concepts.
To equip students with fundamental approaches and techniques of mathematics.
To develop interest in abstraction and application towards modeling of real world problems and their solutions
Program Educational Objectives
-
To motivate students towards conceptual mathematics and its applications.
-
To Acquaintance the students with latest mathematical software and tool packages by conducting training workshops / practical related to them.
-
To encourage students to attend and participate regional/state/National and International seminars/workshops/conferences.
-
To provide students with the opportunity of attending seminars and invited lectures addressed by eminent mathematicians, faculty members from IIT, professors from other institutes and speakers from other areas of interest.
-
Sharing and promotion mathematics not only as subject but also as conceptualizing the approach building skills which is never ending process.
